Unhappy K&N's *New Typhoon Intake

I'm been looking around for an Intake and I stumbled into K&N's website, I found that their Typhoon(I don't know if it's new or not) is applicateable on the Lancer OZ. I'm curious if anyone has had any experience with this intake.<BR>

LancerReiNi-

HTML doesn't work here, you have to use vB code. There a link on the bottom. As for the fliter, look at the installation pics on the link below (pdf file, you'll need adobe). The intake is located right next to the engine (where there's sure to be a ton of heat). CAI will have greater performance gains from better filter placement.

Yeah, it looks like a sweet setup, but here's another reason not to get it. It runs about $300! Short ram, $300? No thank you.

Most short rams are right next to the engine too. Mine's like that and I haven't had any problems. (albeit a tiny power loss from its original incarnation as a CAI).

Edit: Sigh. Stock MAS. Still not worth $300.

yeah you could get the same gains from a much cheaper short ram (road race) hint hint.

I calmed down now, and decided to email K&N. I basically told them that this was grossly overpriced, and that it would probably sell much better if it were around $100-$150. If it only cost that much, I'd pick one up.

100 to 150? Uhmm...no. They're in a business to make money, not cater to the monetary needs of others. Jesus, their panel filter alone is 70 smackers. Hmm...never thought about it though but that MAS adapter is nice...splashes the air into that itty bitty hole (stupid restrictor plate )

We appreciate your input regarding our products. We consider the cost of manufacturing our kits when determining a final sales price. I will forward your concern regarding pricing to the appropriate department for further consideration.

I pledge here and now that I, purecoda, will single-handedly get K&N to lower the cost of this intake in one month. If I have to, I'll have Trogdor burninate a few peasants to scare them.

This is a "wink wink nudge nudge" type nod to doing the MAS swap right? Just making sure I'm still hip to your kid's lingo in my old age. Either way, something like that still isn't easy but at WOT, man, you'd be movin'.

the 6g72 swap is a great idea. or just ripping out the plate in general. not for the faint of heart. but that's all for another thread.
