Time for a tune up
Time for a tune up
I'm supposed to get my 60,000 mile tune-up now. It's a huge list of things that need to be done which probably translates into some serious cash at the dealer garage. Timing belt, ignition wires, coolant replacing and all sorts of other stuff. Is there any of this I can do myself? I'm pretty handy in the garage. I have an 02 Lancer OZ.
well, if you have the tools, just try and get the alldata service sheet or mitchell on demand service sheet from the closest shop. Its a smart thing to do because you can be the judge if the items you're replacing even need replacing and you'll save some serious cash.
did you take it to the dealer for the 30000 mile tune up?

Everything you need to do for a 60 000 mile tune-up can be done at home. The level of difficulty is advanced though, so you might want to take that into consideration before you start.
so far the only place it's available is on ebay. you can pick one up on CD for around 10 - 20 depending on what's available. Be careful though as lots of them are decpetive, email the seller to find out for sure that it's for your year/model

The only tricky part with the 60,000 tune up, it seems, would be the flushing of my coolant and that sort of thing. I have already put new spark plugs in and I've cleaned my CAI filter. Are the other things I need to replace easy to find AND are can some of those parts be upgraded to increse performance?

I cant remember exactly what needs to be done, but if I remember correctly the only difficult thing to do is the timing belt (atleast thats what somebody said on the forums here). But oil change, coolant, plugs and wires, tranny fluid (if its a manual very easy, if its an auto u wanna take it to a place that flushes, and cleans everything out) There has been a lot of debate about the tranny flush though. Sometimes if u let it go too long some of that crap ur going to be flushing out is actually sealing bad gaskets and stuff like that. Back to the point the timing belt i believe is the only difficult one.
