^^^not really, it just takes some creative thinking, but doesnt really take long, once you figure out how to get it off. most methods do require 2 people though.

Possibly. If you warm up the car beforehand and install a MIL eliminator or flip the 2nd car I don't see why you'd have to.

NJ is pretty strict on emissions. they check more than just the CEL...you could be right though. i'm not so sure how many parts per million the lancer would be over with headers (if at all)....i dunno. just be careful in NJ.

its been covered many times, especially as of late. yes the cel will come on, replacing the stock manifold with a set of aftermarket headers will remove the first catalytic converter, which the 2nd o2 sensors reads from, and will then throw a cel code P0421 (if memory serves correctly). just flip the second cat, solder a mil eliminator into the 2nd o2 sensor, or you can try the antifouler method.

Here's my .02 - I have the Kami's and i love them but that nut was a BE YOTCH to get off. I decided to loosen the power steering pump to get to it. It worked out pretty well. It helps to have your kid working on your car too - she had small hands I really enjoy the boost i feel when i'm under power. I got mine from the Kami site.... completely forgot about big josh & pt tuning. : duhhhh : I got a CEL too - i'm going to get a MIL elim in a month or so.
IMO - i love my Kami's and i think they are really worth it.

Yes this topic has been covered many times but anyways: I also have the kamikaze and yes it does come with a downpipe. Yes your CEL will come on when you install because you are removing your exhaust manifold which has a cat in it. To avoid the CEL all you need to do is flip your 2nd cat around so the O2 sensor is behind the 2nd cat. Therefore no CEL will come on. That is what I did, and I have never had the CEL. I also have not taken it to get inspected yet(next year I'm due) so not sure how that will go but should be fine.

I like the headers.. I've had them on for about 6 months now. Don't use the MIL tho, I found it just gave me more probs them anything. Go to a local muffler shop and get them to tap a new 02 sensor hole and plug the other one... the cat is directional, shouldn't be reversed.. it can be.. but thats cheap way of doing things.

As for the left bolt... get a wrench that has the wratchet built in.. so you don't have to take it off all the time with a piece of rope! you'll have it off within a minute!

uhm..okie.. i gave up installing the damn thing myself..so i took it to my local tuner shop.. (a Good thing) i discoverd that it needed tons of modifications to fit this damn thing on my 2004.. heres the thing.. they cut the metal bracket.. to take out the left nut.. i know alot of u guys did it difrently..but they cut it just incase i need to take it out again..(to make it easier) and on the down pipe..my stock cat was welded on so they had to cut it and weld a flange..then i told them to flip my cat..which cuased another problem with the hangers of the kamikaze's downpipe.. so they had to cut that too and tweek it a lil... it was a pain to watch.. lastly they extended my o2 sensor wire.. so it would reach to the bung.. i imaging doin this all myself.. i coulda failed, coz of lack of tools and materials needed for this project.. good thing i took it to the shop..so this is a
HEADS UP for 04 guys! if ur planning to do this.. get ready to face some challenges..i was gona give up thinking its not worth it.. but damn..after driving my car on the highway.. i was happy with my greddy evo catback and kamikaze headers setup!.. i guess im the only 04 who has done these?!?! oh well.. its always nice to experiment and risk once in a while.. hard work.. but at the end of the day..it was all G...

^^^ thats amazing that it caused that many problems, it should have fit up to the head just fine, since it is the same engine as the 02-03. and why was the cat welded? so how much extra did it end up costing you?
