Prolly Thursday afternoon I would say. I can take out the old pistons and press the new ones in. While you start dismantling your engine... and we should get a decent amount of it done by Saturday Morning assuming that all goes well. You may even have a car by Sunday.

I say to stick with a regular lancer 2.0 motor and rebuild with strong pistons and rods, keep stock tranny, and spend extra cash that you were to spend on ralliart to buy a Stage 2 Turbo from RRM.
wait...so 93 is not good for my engine??cuz i ALWAYS put in 93(well...eveer sence i moved to GA..in cali i used 91)

Why would 93 octane be good for a car that's was designed to run on 87? It's not helping your engine. In fact it's most likely not burning all of the way. Do a search on gas milage and read up on it. I've said it about fifteen times now, but once agian higher octane does not do anything for our cars but cause eventual problems unless you are tuned for higher octane with a piggyback or a ECU swap. Let's keep this thread clean, run a search and you will find more than enough info on this subject.

Exclamation

Ok I respect Shingen with every once I have to give the man but that is one of the most absurd things I have heard on these boards. Running a high octane fuel is good for your engine it burns cleaner and I would argue against your claim that it does serious harm to your engine. It has been documented and proven that your vehicle runs much more efficiently and much more power is produced with high octane fuel.

But any ways this is --------------- sorry.

Install of the pistons begins tommorow and also we will probably pull the engine as well so we will keep all posted as to the progresss.....

Paul, I read up on it. I might not know about lots cause using dial up but the ECU on our cars are set to use 87 octane. Seriously though this topic has been majorly discussed. I will look up the threads that pertain to this and send them to you personally so you can read all about it.

i'm with fox on this one, the only thing that happens when a stock lancer uses 93 octane is you get horrible mileage because of the fuel not burning all the way or something. there is nothing to be gained using 93 over 87 or so

i suppose if you changed your plugs (went hotter maybe?) then you could reap the benefits, but i dunno.

back on topic
