~Walbro fuel pump loudness?~

Hey everyone~

Well tonight i just got done installing the Walbro fuel pump and the Magnum BIG BORE fuel rail! A quick question....when completed the install for the fuel pump i could barely hear it. So i took it out for a spin to see if i had any leaks. Which was negative. So i went on installing the fuel rail. Once again, when i was done, i took it around the block or so to check for any leaks. Which was also negative. But, what i did notice is that once i installed the fuel rail, i could definately hear the feul pump, outside the car, working. Is this normal or not? Or should the sound go away after a couple of days? Thank you in advance!

That high pitched whinning is absolutely normal. It is not going to go away, but if you drive your car enough you'll get used to the sound and you can trick yourself and say that it went away. Just be proud that you now own a buff @$$ fuel pump!

^true dat. Once you get use to it you try to train your ear to hear it again so that you have a piece of mind that it is working.

The loud whine is how you know it's working.

Kinda like Icy Hot. The burn is how you know it's working.

Its like in some cars, when you don't wear your seat belt that ringing noise. Then after a while you get used to it an you dont notice it. its the same way with the fuel pump.

I've had my fuel pump for a few weeks now and never heard it once. Now all of a sudden it will make weird almost like scratching noises only when the car is at a stand still. the sound almost sounds like it is in my center console???
