New CAI

I just installed a CAI on my 2004 Automatic Lancer (just moved the battery out of the way to fit it in there, nothing fancy) and I had a few quick questions. Number one is that when I slow to a stop the throttle drops down to about 500-600 RPMs and then jumps back up to around 1000 so is that abnormal and is that bad at all? The other question is about the wheel well covers. Should I have any of them removed? I mean do I need to have the CAI open to the outside or is it ok just left inside the front wheel well?

Using the search button you would find out that it is normal for your idle to be crazy at times after installing CAI or short ram.

Your battery was probably disconnected for more than 10 minutes so your Ecu went back to it's starting point. It's got to learn again. Give it a few miles and it will go away.

Yeah, the auto tranny lancers, like mine, will do that after the ecu is reset (assuming that is what you do). If not, disconnect that batt for 10 min +; then re-connect. Then it will re-learn the shifting points again.

Cool thanks for the answers, sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum. Now does anyone know about the wheel well covers? Should I have one off to expose more air to the filter?

Unless you live somewhere where there isn't alot of standing water left on the road after a storm, or you have a Bypass valve in-line I wouldn't.
