Question about injectors?

I am currently looking for injectors for my 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer es turbocharged. I tried using the search feature before I made this post but for some reason or another it is not working. I was wondering if the injectors from the evos will work or if anyone can recommend aftermarket injectors that will work with little or no modification to fit?

Evo injectors will not work. Get some RC injectors, they spray a stream as compared to stock whih is a mist. For performance you want a stream the mist in the stock ones is mostly for emissions. Type the words low impedence and high impedence I forget which one we are. I'm pretty sure we are low impedence but dont quote me on that.

We are high impedance (saturated). The EVO uses low impedance (peak and hold). Also unless you are using mos or lots of boost the 550cc EVO injectors would be too big. You want something more like 440cc for the average amount of boost, maybe less. I don't have a turbo, but I have read most of the threads in the last two years that were about injectors. PM boeturbolancer if you want to talk to a real expert on the matter.

I've heard the a WRX's injectors might be of good use in such a case as this. I believe they're around 440.

From what I've read the WRX does used saturated 440cc injectors, but I'm not sure about the spray pattern or how they fit in our manifold/fuel rail. Try talking to rhyzin about it. He does done alot more research into injectors than I have.

Yes those injectors will work. RX-7 high impedance 460cc's will work too, but you will just have to get a longer fuel rail bolt.

Others include:
93+ up non-turbo Supra - 315cc
00+ Celica GTS - 310cc
90 - 96 300ZX Twin-turbo - 370cc

The WRX's will fit out car. I know for sure hobie has them on his car, but the last time I heard he was taking them off and going another route. Hopefully he sees this thread and posts.

Had. I sold them a while ago. I put RC Engineering 440cc's and replaced the stock injector harnesses with Bosch quick-release clips.

EDIT: WRX injectors fit the stock clips and are only maybe 1/4" longer than the stock injectors. If you have a fuel controller that can handle the increase in size I'd recommend them.

do you think putting an fpr that brings the wrx injector's output down to 390cc have them work better with a fuel controller, or do you think the spray pattern will have gone too retarded to not make them worth while?

i have this vague recollection that someone had tried the rx-7 injectors and said the spray pattern wasn't fine enough... imma have to go looksie...

EDIT: found it

now that i think about it, it is only one example and the mirage guys have had many more examples of some success. it's probably still doable.

rhyzin, I really have no idea. To tell you the truth I never tried tuning the WRX injectors when I had them in. The only way I changed pressure was by raising it to accomodate for my peculiar fuel cutoff. I honestly don't know a lot about spray pattern besides the basic ideas of why it's important. As to how it relates to those injectors...not a freakin' clue.

Rhyzin, I was running 460 cc RX-7 injectors in my mirage and i disagree with OZturbo's statements. The actual nozzle part was just as long as our injectors, it was just the body of the injector was much longer than the Mirage / Lancer stockers. As a result, I had to use the longer fuel rail bolts. I never had any fuel related problems, except for the fact that I was too rich at high RPMs because I never tuned it professionally. However, I still had idle at 800 - 900 RPMs (with SAFC correction at - 33 to - 40), and perfect cruise settings, without running rich and with nice EGT readings. On the high end, up to about 80 was also perfect with EGTs around 750 degrees. After that is when it got too rich (and down low at WOT was also rich) but I didn't have any fuel realted problems (outside of tuning) with those 460cc's.
