stock intake hose replacement
stock intake hose replacement
has anyone replaced the stock hose from the maf to the TB with a silicone hose? i was wanting to know where you got it, and what size is it? i have been looking at angled pieces, but with my custom intake, and bracket for it, im not sure what degree to go with, or even if im suppose to go to with a degree turn. any ideas?
I kind of doubt you'll find a silicone replacement. What I did was get a piece of aluminum tubing with a 45 degree bend in it and a couple of silicone couplers. I have some pics of it, I just need to get them off my camera and post them in my profile. I'll try and get something done tonight. If you want to know where I got the stuff I forgot the name of the site, but I have the link at home. I'll try to post that tonight as well. The only thing is that unless you get the tube from the injen or AEM intakes you will have to put a breather filter on the valve cover. If you have emmissions testing you won't be able to pass with that.

The size you choose to go with depends entirely on what you want to do with your intake. I used a 3" tube because that is the size of the outlet on the MAF and I intend to go to a 501 MAF which has a larger opening than the stock one(although they use the same body). 3" is probably the largest you want to use so that you can maintain velocity. You can use a smaller tubing size if you want, but don't go below the size of your throttle plate(the stock one is 53mm). As for material use whatever you want. I used a polished aluminum tube because I don't particularly like the "home depot" special look(don't get me wrong, fpr prototyping it doesn't matter how it looks, but finished product is another story). It is all personal preference though.
score, i just want to replace that rubber hose that has those ridges in it. it looks lame on my 5" custom intake. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=138536 . i think i will try the aluminum thing, and punch a hole, find that site and message it to me. and pics. thanks for the help though!
The site I found is www.topspeedauto.com. Go to the intakes section and look for universal piping. When I placed my order (over a year ago) they were out of the generic 3" 45 degree bends, but they sent me a 3" 45 for a kit for some isuzu I think. Anyway they are a nice place to work with. As for adding the fitting I'd be careful if I was you. A breather is alot easier.
