Automatic frustration

As implied, I'm frustrated w/ having so little control...having to install a SRI, not being able to downshift as fast, slower throttle response etc..

Is it possible/feasible/cost effective to be able to get an auto Lancer to run 15's without putting in a turbo?

I plan on adding/ordering these mods within the next 2 months:

1. RPW headers (for the reputed retention of low end torque & hp)
2. Magna flow cat back exh sys.
3. Magna flow high flow cat conv.
4. Injen SRI
5. Hood scoop or Carbontrix evo hood.

What can I expect the accumulative effect to be from these mods?

Should I just go turbo? How does the auto trany deal w/ the strain?...I seem to be talented at inadvertantly destroying auto tranys (dead civic 98, dead 99 grand am)...

dozens of auto guys have those mods with NO tranny issues . . . however sadly you wont run 15's with those mods, if you really want to be fast fold your money in half, put it back in your pocket, and wait till that wad is big enough for a turbo

1) live with it
2) lite the car on fire, roll it off a cliff and dance around in a ritualistic fashion, then go and buy a decent car(fast)

yeh, if youve fried that many autos, buy a manual. I have an auto simply because that was all was left of them when I bought it.... and didnt want the new 04 style. wish I just got a used manual but oh well. theres some auto lancers turboed and super charged on here with no problem with the tranny. You can also beef up your tranny if your pushing a lot of power. can also get a tourque converter to help with power issues. the cool thing is you drive and eat at the same time. haha

As others have said, you'd be lucky to be in the 15s in a manual with those mods, let alone in an auto. If you want all out speed, get a turbo or supercharger. Oh and I gladly trade the ability to eat while driving (something I wouldn't do anyways) for the joy of driving a stick.

^^^Driving with your knees is a skill to learn on long trips... Great for eating on the go! (J/K, I don't recommend this at all; I even get pissed with the usual cell phone call while driving)

Auto not that bad, I'd rather have 5speed as well but I got dealt an auto.

I curse dealers that dont carry but a few 5 speeds.

I even tried to trade my car for a 5speed, 05 or 06 there was only 1 even remotely close to me.

So I'm suck w/the auto for another year or so till I can afford a 2nd car.
In the mean time I'm throwin a turbo on it very soon, haha!

I dont think those guys w/ their autos turbo'd have changed out their trq converters yet.
I'd sugjest if you do add turbo, to atleast throw on a good aftermarket auto tranny cooler, most run about $40-$70. And can save ya a blown tranny cause'd by heat. I'm prolly gonna grab a trq converter as I already blew a tranny in my car somehow

those will get you started on some nice throttle response. the tranny will hold up to that so long as you dont power brake the hell out of it. unfortunately 15's is rough on a NA lancer...even a 5spd. good luck hitting those numbers without a turbo....just know that IT CAN BE DONE.

If you really want a fast NA lancer, could always go with the AEM EMS. I think it would allow you to adjust the tranny shift points as well as other things.
