Adding a cat to stock exhaust with afterm. muffler

Adding a aftermarket cat to stock exhaust with aftermarket muffler? Will that be a good cheap way of having a better exhaust instead of spending alot of money for a new exhaust? Does it gain any HP?

You would actually want to REMOVE a cat by replacing it with a testpipe, or REPLACE the second cat with a HighFlow cat

Not to be rude, but is this the "aftermarket is always better" thinking?

An aftermarket cat will do nothing. A test pipe or a high flow cat will improve exhaust velocity.

Know what you want...

get this stuff now... then add thicker piping in the future stock piping is too small.. you can barely fit a magic marker in there

Don't waste your money, the gains are going to be 2-3hp at the most, it will be completly unnoticeable. Unless you have a turbo you wouldn't see much power gains from your engine.

I just hammered everything out of my cat (no pun). It is empty striaght through. I heard to expect very minor gains, but i was suprised. For not spending a dime, and only 30-45 min, this has proved to be a decent mod.

...longterm, i don't know. I am not sure how back pressure works on our cars, but the ONLY back pressure I would have is from the muffler (Header and downpipe, eliminated first cat).

anyone think I am an idiot? Seems to function the same as a test pipe, only legal.
And well all share an equal fear/hate of Jonny Law...

you'll lose a little torque after that. And it's not really legal, it just looks like it is. Go ahead and try to pass an inspection like that
