lol I have cigarette buds and leaves each time I take the pipe of the filter...
i took off the dryer hose and replaced it with PVC...
bad thing is the pvc opening isn't right towards the fog light area
so not as cold as I had it before...
but this is a really good idea... even in the hotest days (at least here in canada eh)
my IM stays pretty cool...

so having a custom ram air like you guys did sitting with the entrance at the lower front grill will grab air? Someone said something about negative air in the engine bay, air still flows into bumper grill though?

just remove the driverside lower corner opening and put a 3" diameter hose from there straight to your filter...
basically acts like a cold air intake
while you drive cold air is blown through the tube up to the filter...

hah no lights under it... that rice if you dont have the power to back it up.. nah mostly interior lighting to match the massive stereo... i m saving paychecks to get crackin on some performance parts... or ill just sell the damn thing and get an EVO IX put thousands of dollars into it... hire hot show girls to stand infront of it... file for bankruptcy... get a nice cardboard box in the middle of boston and live out my days crying like a little girl wishing i still had my lancer.

sounds nice to me

Why did you just start randomly hating on the Evo crowd? That was kinda pointless. Well anyway, with your initial idea [no ram piping thing, just stock airbox], that was how my car was when I got it from the dealership. I guess previous owner had an intake before and went back to stock or just thought of it as a "bootleg" SRI like you did. I went to a junkyard that my auto teacher's friend owns and he gave me the little airbox extension thing and it didn't really make a difference to me, but that's just me. If you want to save some money but have a little performance mod, get the eBay "Bomex" SRI and just do the RamAir thing that everyone else is doing.

i got the "bomz" SRI and it is sweet i paid like 60 bucks for it and it does the same thing that Injen or AEM would do. gave me more power and a nice sound. pretty dam good for 60 bucks, might be just as much as buying all that other crap.

There is 1 thing you guys seem to either forget or not think about. It not how much you pay for your stuff, it's not where you got it from. When it comes to intakes, the only thing you have to worry about is the filter. Get whatever brand you want, but dith the filter and get something proven.

So buy an Ebay intake, that will provide you with the pipes and connectors you need, then ditch the crappy wannabe K&N filter and get a real onel. If your filter sucks, you're not improving performance.

I have a question. Im thinking about doing one of these ram air things in my driver side bumper vent. Instead of using vent pipe what if I used PVC. I can heat wrap it and bend it into place real easy. then prime and it paint it black. it would look like it belonged. My question is will the heat effect pvc badly? (melt, or othet things) I think it comes pretty close to exhaust manifold when your running this. any opinion on this idea or help would be cool.

I've had mine on for a few months and the pipe still looks mint.

Make sure you don't use too many bends... Every bend will make you loose air pressure in the pipe.
