replace the engine, youve blow all the internals and wasted your oil pan. Probably fried some stuff in the electraical system too.

There are many Lancer engines on ebay for about $650 shipped. So the swap yourself and save a ton of money - there are enough people on here who've rebuilt/reinstalled engines that you can get help.

Just a side note for those of you who are reading. This problem (destroying your engine) could have been avoided if the $40 bypass valve was used. I personally have been running a cold air intake for 2.5 years without the valve cuz I never wanted to cut my pipe in half to fit it. Now when i see this..... $40 and cutting pipe >>> $650 and installing a new engine.

Sorry this had to happen to you Smoku......

They show about a dozen engines for your car, mileage ranges from 31k to 71k. Take your pick for $605. Rent an engine hoist, and invite a couple mechanically-inclined friends over. You should be able to get your car back on the road for less than $800.

Sorry, but there's holes in your block. Those don't happen from water splashing on it. Whoever said you have at least one broken connecting rod is right, I'm afraid.

Good new is that you'll have a spare of everything but the block, oilpan, and a connecting rod or two. Part out your old engine, sell off the stuff you don't need, and make back some of the money you'll have to spend on a junkyard engine.

Smoku -

We're all very sorry, but I think you're in denial. There are HOLES - HOLES, HOLES in your engine block. That is caused by serious internal failure. Unless you smashed into some rocks while driving that could break a hole in your aluminum oil pan, the holes are caused by catastrophic engine failure. Taking out the spark plugs won't reveal anything. You need, must remove the upper oil pan. There are a ton of bolts that hold it to the block. Where the pan, block and tranny meet is a little space where you can slide a flat head screwdriver in and pop off the pan. Once the pan is off, you can them see the rods and crank and find out what is broken. Here is what your crank/rods should look like (my engine when I did the turbo install)

actually i dont need to do any more checks to see if my engine is ok or not. i have a huge hole next to my dip stick where u check oil.
im calling my insurance tomorrow.
my car year is 2003 and it has 57000 miles. do you guys think they will total it? i think it has engine to change and some electrical parts as it wont crank.

if insurance will total my car..
im selling my front lights with hids..and back altezzas.. along with strut bar. broken cold air intake. its broken at the part where u screw it at the bottom. u wont be able to screw it in unless u create some hook up. also you will need to get new filter.

and if they do total my car.. i think im getting an used mazda 6.. 12000$ .. 22000 miles.. all leather.. good deal yea?? ;P

So the Lancer days will be over. Sorry to hear about this. Good luck in whatever else you get. That Mazda should be a good start
