Question Performance Chip:

Does anyone know if those Performance Chips acctualkly work, or screw up your car? They are selling them on e-bay and they say it adds 20+ horsepower to the car. It's like $10.00 I think. Please let me know. Check it out here:

As far as I know there is not a chip available for the lancer yet. If there has been it was big news that I somehow missed.

20 HP for 10 bucks? Sounds too good to be true, and if its too good to be true, it usually is.

there is a chip.... Jet Performance makes a chip for our cars...do a search on it... only problem is you have to be completely done modding your engine before getting it.

Stick with reputable vendors for parts. Stay away from ebay parts or home depot for that matter!

If you want performance the chip is not the first or best place to look for your Lancer. In fact cost vs. effectiveness, I wouldn't (personally) even recommend getting an ECU upgrade, standalone or piggyback until your other mods require it.

dont buy the chip i have until you have alot of mods. i disagree hobie about your cost vs. effectiveness statement. ive spent a couple thousand on mods and the jet chip was the most effective one of all .im sure it played off the other mods and such but i know first hand that it is far more effective than exhaust, throttle body, intake, straight pipe... far more!!! it is also easier if your not computer savvy to just have your ecu programmed rather than fool with a stand alone.

Performance Chip:

Thanks for all your help guys. I do have a few mods I made already. Injen Cold Air Intake, Test Pipe, and Greddy Evo Cat-Back. I am sure these mods will help with the chip. I'll check into it.
