This afternoon I installed my OBX intake that I ordered off of ebay. I knew the risks before getting it, and knew that if I had to, I could just use the adaptor and filter for a ghetto SRI, or install the whole thing in my gf's Mirage.
Taking the stock intake system out was a breeze. Not a single clip busted, until I tried to remove the MAS from the stock airbox. 2 of the screws holding it on, which are attached to this odd shaped piece that looks like a zero inside the airbox, broke the braces holding them in place.
I had to wrestle with it ever so cautiously for a half an hour to get it apart. Finally, success. After eyeballing up the system, I realized that not only would the intake be about 2 inches too long, but the rubber elbows didn't fit the throttle body like they should. Oh well, the stock was out, and I wasn't turning back. I just put on the MAS adaptor, threw back on the stock piping, and put the cone filter on. Doesn't look half bad really.
Once it was installed, I reconnected everything and turned it on. The RPMs raced to about 4000 with a loud WEEEEEEEE, then settled down at about 500. I let it idle for about ten minutes and then took it out on my favorite open road. It has a nice little growl to it, not too loud. My butt dyno feels a slight difference over the KN panel replacement, it definitely throughs you back in your seat a bit more. My girl noticed the difference too.
All in all, I guess I'm happy enough with it for now. I finally got my first experience really working under the hood for something other than a car stereo, and can't wait to get a better intake. I'm not going to post pics, because it really looks just like every other GRI (ghetto ram induction) out there. I think my next intake will either be AEM or a custon cold air. I'll post pics of that one for sure.

yea i installed that ****, i broke everything on my stock MAS air thing but it still works now and i cant brace it down anywhere. its not a really good design but it sounds cool when you change gears.

i had to be a little creative with the brace... but now, with the intake facing straight forward it fits perfectly fine. what i did was put 2 opposite 45 degree bends in it, to give me enough clearance over some wires. its held down nice and tight, and doesn't rattle against anything. of course, its only been a day, so we'll see how it holds over time...
I feel lucky, I installed my SRI this weekend and other than not having any directions, had no problem once I figured out where the support bracket went. The MAS bolts/nuts were a piece of cake, squirted some Liquid Wrench on, let em sit for about 5 minutes and then used a 3/8 ratchet and socket and they popped loose. I should also say that I did that part with the whole air box out of the car. The only thing that went wrong was I forgot to hook up the MAS wire before I cranked it back up. It set off the Check Engine light so I disconnected the battery again for another 15 minutes, remembered to connect the wires, hooked the battery back up and cranked her up. Let it run for 15-20 minutes and then took it out and shook it out!!! Love the sound and think it helped alot with the torque.
i got that obx also had no problem but one mas bolt and that damn bracket that dont make since so i just bent the thing to a 45 degree and got some self tappin screws the only thing i dont like is the fact that it's right behind the battery so i'm just going to do a battery relocate soon to open up so space. kept the front pipe to the stock box to get a lil cold air (if that even helps any)
I haven't noticed any more power out of mine (not that I expected to), but the fuel efficency is rockin. I am showing just under half a tank, and have traveled 170 miles. Without the AC on of course. I was averaging 300 city miles on a tank if I ran it until the low fuel light came on.
