what if you custonize the piping ...instead of in front of the car....put it obove the valve cover...then put a hood scoop .... directly hitting the filter????

hwo much do these things coast any ways???

Simple answer, it'd be pointless. Not only would it hurt performance (think about the throttle response difference between SRI and CAI) but everyone would point and laugh at your car which would be a real shame since your car is actually nice.

You mean mess around with the high pressure A/C lines so it goes through a part of the intake piping?

Then it leaks and your car burns r134A and PAG oil

Or do you mean **** around with your air plenum and make a custom duct from it to the intake?
Still a bad idea.
You'd be sending hot air in the winter =P

If I got this all wrong, please explain lol
You got me on that synth!!!

no not talking about that sorry

but y do u guys think it would hurt ur performance, i know its not that smart of an idea but have u guys actually tried it to c if it would hurt throttle response?
and if it would work they would only laugh bc they would think its just for looks ya know

Well it's a basic mechanical problem that would cause the performance drop. The filter would be very far away from the throttlebody and the addition of the intercooler would cause a massive pressure drop which together would result in poor throttle response. Just think about how far the air would need to travel to get into the engine.

i dont think it being so far away would make it that bad bc when u add a cold air intake ur throttle respone doesnt get worse and ur filter is move far away from stock

The throttle response of a CAI is lower than a SRI because of the filter distance. The big thing is the pressure drop due to the intercooler. Imagine a pair of straws, you have one that stays the same size throughout, and you have another that's longer and in the far end there's a huge bulge. Which would be harder to use?

i thought about the straw thing and it makes sense. but ur cold air intake theory confuses me bc i didnt think that adding a cold air would worsen throttle response but for some reason i still want to see if it would make a car run worse.

in this pic i dont see how it being bigger in the middle would hurt it bc aem and other companies have intakes out there that change shape from small to big and so forth

thoughts on this??

Going from stock to any intake is a going to yield gains. In terms of throttle response though, a SRI is better than a CAI.

Well that's only a minor increase and it goes big to small, not small to big to small.
