i pmed him too so hopefully he will come on here and post up some info/specs. hp wise the 2g eclipse gs spyder 4g64 makes 141 hp and the 3g eclipse spyder gs makes 150 hp.

i would guess they would be similar as far as doing the swap. i know there are aftermarket turbo options for this engine. there was one of these in modifiedmag a while back, and i'm pretty sure it was a gs but not positive.

for me the greatest asset is its simlarity to the 4g63. if you are staying NA, this could also be very beneficial although not as cost effective. the turbo options for a 4g64 lancer could be awesome

I've read about some 4g64 NA's only being able to barely get to about 200hp. This swap would be best with some kind of turbo setup.

^ yes please let us know how it was. perhaps a few people with specific knowledge could come in here and let us know what this swap entails. of course it may be a bit different in the mirage, and knowing those differences would help as well.

yeah Fox that was what i was thinking. if i was ever serious enough to do a swap i would want to make it worth it

This is beautiful information. I know it would make the value of the lance increase, and add rep to the name Lancer... evo or not. I would rather have AWD, but being able to throw down decent numbers while still staying true to mitsu is awesome. Good find!

Cool beans man. I would love to see the pics. How difficult did you find the swap? What was the biggest difficulty you ran into?

The hardest part is the ecu/wiring, but going full standalone will eliminate all of this, you use all 3 stock motor mounts, the eclipse 3g/evo timing mount and hybrid axels or swap the bellhousings and drill a hole for the timing mount.

That is incorrect. You CANNOT use the Eclipse/Evo/Mirage timing belt mount. The Lancer timing belt mount does not rest in the rail, held in by 1 bolt like the Eclipse/Evo/Mirage mounts do. It is bolted down in 3 locations to the frame. You need to use the Lancer timing belt mount for the swap. It works fine.

Trust me, its the eclipse/evo mount that is needed, the 3 bolts the mount go on to are about 1/8-1/4" bigger than the mirage/lancer mount.

I'm not talking about the timing belt side mounting bracket that the engine mount gets bolted to. I'm talking about the engine mount itself. The Lancer timing belt side engine mount is COMPLETELY different from that of a Mirage/Eclipse/EVO. Might want to look into that...

not the 3g, your talking about a 1-2g eclipse engine. The mirage-lancer platform is the same, and also the 3g eclipse engine is transversed the correct way. Trust me I and a few other people have done this swap, then engine/tranny once put together is a direct drop in except for the whole in the timing mount bracket you have to drill. which is nothing.

The 1G and 2G Eclipses have nothing to do with this swap. The only viable components are from the 3G Eclipse, 5G Mirage, Lancer or EVO IV and up. Find a picture of a Lancer timing belt engine mount and then look at a 3G Eclipse timing belt engine mount. The only timing belt side motor mount that will work in a Lancer is the one from a Lancer.

If you are talking about the engine mount bracket on the engine, then that's a different story.

I'm currently in the process of dropping a 4G64 into my Lancer. This project has been a year in the making with the engine buildup and getting all the parts. I know what I am talking about. I think you are confusing the engine mount bracket with that of the engine mount itself.
