A2 Designs 4G64 Engine Swap!!!
well your in the process, I have done it im not going to argue with you.
But here explains it, the first pic is of a 4g94 lancer engine timing bracket with 3 bolts, next is a 4g64 bracket with 2 bolts and 3rd is a evo/eclipse engine mount that is used.

Ok. Now find a picture of a Lancer engine bay and look at how the engine mount attaches to the frame on the timing belt side. The Mirage and Lancer have different mounting solutions for the engine mount on the timing belt side. The Mirage, 3G Eclipse and EVO have the same style. This is why you CAN use that mount pictured on a 4G64 swap into a Mirage. But the Lancer is different. Actually, the timing belt side motor mount of the Lancer sucks in my opinion!
I wish we could use something else.

isn't the 4g64 the 2.4 out of a 3g eclipse? hows the aftermarket for it?

An Evo head swap and turbo is the best mod for them guys.
2.4 3g eclipse aftermarket is nothing to the DSM / Evo aftermarket.
Now that I'm home from work I can show you what I am talking about.
This picture shows the timing belt side motor mount in my '03 Lancer (taken from the passenger side):

This is a sky view of the motor mount:

This is is a view of the timing belt side of a 2002 Eclipse with no engine:

I would like to re-iterate. The only timing belt side motor mount that will fit in a Lancer is that of a Lancer. The 3G Eclipse, Mirage and EVO share the same style of timing belt side motor mount that has 1 large bolt holding it to the frame. The Lancer has 3 tiny bolts: 2 on either side of the mount on the frame rail and 1 that is close to the fender higher up. All the mounts do share the same staggered 3-bolt pattern that secures them to the engine timing belt mount bracket.

i stated this before in that the swap will really be worth it because evo engine/turbo parts will be much easier to use

pics don't seem to be working. if this is the case, is it a truly devastating problem? perhaps you and prench could come to some kind of conclusion over pm/email so everyone on here who is not familiar with this info (haha like me) doesn't get even more confused. thanks for the input!

After some more looking around I came up with the following:

This is a 4G64 that has been swapped into a Lancer. Instead of using the stock Lancer mount, they used the 3G Eclipse engine mount. Look closely and you will see a custom bracket that has been fabbed to facilitate the use of this mount. Honestly, this closely resembles one of the routes I was planning on exploring. I have yet to see what the dimensions of the 4G64 are in my engine bay to determine the best route for the mount. I was hoping that the Lancer mount would be a better choice and just drill out the holes on the mount for the bracket bolts. This would be the easy route. Bottom line is that there will be no easy bolt in for the mount without some fabrication.

Engine is all ready to be dropped in. It's hanging on my hoist ready to go. It's too cold though now. I'm gonna wait a few months for warmer days. I'm done with the days of swapping in motors with 4" of snow on the ground!
I can use the interim to gather up the rest of the facts for the swap.
