actually, you can fit a CAI on an auto without removing the battery. its a tight fit, but it can be done. i had one on mine when it was an auto.

ok but if you had the hood duct or and evo style hood with the duct where the intake is, wouldn't it make a short ram better that a cai b/c theres less travel and chance for turbulence from the bends in the piping?
