True but on our motors bolt ons are very ineffective. Trust me, I've been there, I used to be all about bolt ons and staying NA but after realizing that I had spent over 2000$ for maybe 15 hp I quickly came to the conclusion that turbo really is the best option if you want power.

Intake, exhaust, header, intake manifold, throttlebody, fuel rail and high compression pistons. Hell in that 2000$ I'm not even including the install cost of the pistons, I'm simply going by the cost of the mods. 15 hp would probably be wishful thinking sadly enough, our motors just don't respond well to bolt ons, it's a simple and depressing fact.

Not quite that bad, one a lancer 15hp would be maybe 10-12 at the wheels.

I got 123 whp from simple bolt-ons and stage 1 cam while burning oil. Every engine is different. It all depends how you tune it. Turbo is just easy way out.

And what was the base dyno? Saying 123 whp is meaningless as we have no idea what has changed. As far as we know you dynoed 120 whp stock and have only gone up 3 whp, we simply don't know.

I'm sure you got more than 3 whp, but you get my point. Unfortunately it's not as simple as just comparing it to a stock dyno as the readings change from dyno to dyno.

I know what you mean. I just don't get how you got 15 whp from these parts. Either you didn't tune it right or something what was wrong.

The 4G94 just doesn't respond to bolt ons or to NA mods, it's that simple. If you want a 4 banger that can make great power NA, buy a honda. It's sad but it's a fact of life, I would be very surprised if someone ever hit 150 whp NA and maintained a streetable car. To get that kind of a number I would suspect you'd need everything, aggressive cam, high compression pistons (11:1 or higher if possible), heavily ported head and intake system and a full standalone ECU.

I have 11.0:1 Ross Pistons and lightly ported head. I'm hoping for that kind of numbers or better. I know few PR guys with their daily driven mirages with 4g93 and 4g94 engines running 13s and 14s any given day. Just go and check out some posts at mirage forums.

Well the thing is that 1/4 mile times don't necessary equate to power, there are other variables. They could be making 140 hp but have such a flat curve that they just keep going without any lag or dips.
