Agree with Doug, if you're gonna stay NA and only do the basic mods, just get an axleback exhaust or muffler, a catback is a waste of money and won't give any real substantial gains.

An intake is an intake, they all yield the same gains so just get whichever one you like aethestically or price wise. A catback is from the cat back and an axleback is from the axle back (basically a muffler with a bit of piping on it).

No you'd replace the muffler.

Honestly, why do either? If you get an exhaust and an intake, you've spent at least $300 and you've made the car... no faster.

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but I've come to accept that you just can't do much N/A. I spent a lot of money on my Lancer and it was still slow as Hell.

Use the money for something better. Power mods are a waste.

spend the money on suspension/looks. Either that or stick it in a big fund and save for turbo

Here's the thing with performance mods on a lancer, you have to decide early on how far you are willing to go. In our case you either go all the way or don't bother at all. Basic mods like intake, exhaust, header, throttlebody, intake manifold, etc. don't yield big gains, at most you'll gain 10 hp from all bolt ons put together. Is this worth several thousand dollars?
A piggyback works in conjunction with other mods so on a stock motor you won't gain much.

Yes or if you were going to do a lot of NA mods (ie. high comp pistons, camshaft, P & P head, etc).

Yes, it would be worth it. Turbo Lancers are very fun.
