You will notice a difference if it is coupled with an intake.

Which intake will work best with the TB?

I already have an RRM Short Ram intake, would I need to replace that with another intake to see the performance improvement when replace the throttle body?

Of course not. Our intake is same as what we use on 400 h.p. Eclipse. It is not limiting you. T.b and other things are what are limiting factors.

Question Throttle Bodies..how do they work?

I'm not very familiar with t.b. upgrades, so can anyone please explain to me how they work, and how larger sizes of t.b. affect performance. thanks

the throttle body is part of your engine's breathing system that regulates how much air your car takes in for combustion. The wider the bore, the more air, and the better the burn. The better the burn the better your performance. I wouldn't expect it to add much in the way of HP or torque necessarily, but it's a great addition to any car with enhanced breathing (i.e. simple bolt on intakes). Hope that helps.

You're welcome, ROCK. As for ease of install...if you can put in an intake you can replace your tb. Just be careful unplugging the hoses on the bottom of the tb because they carry coolant. Hold them in place facing upwards or just let em drain into/onto something and you'll be golden.

The only reason my intake is in is because I bought my tb and didn't want it to be lonely. Under my hood looks ugly as sin with blue hoses, a lighter blue RRM strut bar and red coupling on my injen. It's all sortsa shameful.

Hobie i have come to the conclusion that your know your stuff and my believe is it would be hard to imagine you having an ugly as sin motor compartment - post a poll? thanks for all the feedback to this point!

Ok, I'm going to have to chime in on this. There seems to be a bit of misunderstanding.

Honing out a TB w/o port matching the intake manifold will not be effective.

Example: A TB opens its aperture of 55mm, but the intake manifold is port matched to a stock 50mm. Guess what? 50mm of air will go into the combustion chamber. Now, if you port matched the intake manifold right, you can get all 55mm worth of air into the combustion chamber. Of course, you can do it wrong (someone has done it wrong already - homemade), which will cause the CE light and severe lag approx after 4300 rpm.

Afterwards, you'll have to adj the idle: it should skyrocket from 1200-1600 rpm at idle . . . adj it down. Also, turbo application should benefit greatly from this mod, but the pacific rim 4g93T has a TB of 60mm while 4g92 MIVEC has a 55mm TB.

IMO, you can spend a bit more on camshaft and valve spring work gaining greater HP than TB/intake manifold work. Something to think about w/ tuning from S-AFC (A/F adj) or Greddy E-Manage (piggyback w/ some features of a standalone).

Hehe that's what I've been saying to people that ask me about that. I've been waiting for someone to post that since no one believes me when I tell them it.

wondering?

By the previous reasoning then it wouldn't make sense to do any breathing mods to a vehicle. Because then what would be the point of a larger intake where more air is taken in if the throttle body apperture is going to be stock. But everyone agrees on the little gains that an intake provides. What this sounds to me is like you would have to open up the whole breathing system to see any gains and that would just be right out redesigning the sucker. Just my .02. I really don't know anything so might be completely wrong.
