Limiter on 08 GTS????
have you ever before drive a non carburated vehicle??
I have a fair answer for this, If somebody make a ECU for the car, and you put some parts on the car (cams, upgrade the head, pistons ......) you can REV the car higher, so If mitsubishi make the car with the tach , that only have from 0 to 6.5 K, then you will need an aftermarket RICER RPM gauge so you can read the RPM.
So thats why manofacturers (or what ever its the word hehe) make the tach to 2K more than the red line
I cannot believe this
DUDE did you have a car before??
Will your car rev to 6500 when in neutral? I'm wondering if there's a quirk with the CVT transmission models. Do cars with the MT have the same issue?
Thanks for the info, folks. I guess I'm just surprised that
doesn't mention that. They just say "redline is 6500" in all the press materials.
Otter - no, I'll try freereving it tomorrow and report back.

Well I've only had mine to about 100 so far, but the dated 5MT tranny doesn't seem to have a problem getting there (and probably further).
As for the CVT redlining at 6k, I dunno. It almost makes sense to me. When would you, whilst driving an automatic transmission, really need to push it past that? It's not like you're needing extra revs to offset shift time - and also, good possibility that revs higher than that could cause undue stress and premature wear of the belt.

So much for that test!
