Limiter on 08 GTS????

Hey guys...

Was out on back roads today and for the first time "Pushed" her a bit...
Problem is, the engine seemed to be limited to about 6500 RPM???? WTF??

Anyone know how this can be changed?

It won't be changable until you're able to flash the ECU. That probably won't happen until the Evos come out. No point in removing the rev limiter, anyways, until you're able to tune above those RPMs. You won't be making any extra power.

Redline only starts at 6000... all the power really kicks in around the 6500 mark...

Just because the redline on the dashboard is 6500 doesnt mean that's the recomended shift point limit. Maybe they'll be using the same dash for the evo and that's their limit.

Horsepower @ RPM (Fed./Cal.)* 152/143 @ 6000
Torque @ RPM (lb-ft.) (Fed./Cal.) 146/143 lb.-ft. @ 4250

Redline RPM 6500

Testing on the highway in 2nd gear (so I can stay under the speed limit). Rev limiter kicked in at 6k, not 6500. Any clues on why?

You car was only designed to rev to 6-6,5k and you want to make it higher without the supporting mods?

I'm sure it can handle much more... and if that's the case. why make the tach up to 9k (or whatever it is)? and why set the redline 6500??

This is what you should do.

1. Get ECUFlash to work with the new lancers
2. Set your revlimit to 9k
3. Report your findings.
4. Have fun

NO.

Please read what I asked. The stock redline for the 4B11 is 6500rpm. My car seems to hit redline at 6000rpm. I'd like to know why my car redlines 500rpm before it should.

well let me ask any of you if you have pushed the car to see what the MPH top end is... As of i haven't got my car i know most cars have a govener on it or how ever you spell it.... My cavalier would shut down at 110 mph normally not sure the RPMs but i know some other cars would cut down in 4th at red line or just before at where the govener was set

Pulls were done in 2nd gear. Didn't get above 60 or 70. I know the car can go faster than that, so it's not a governor issue.
