Thats what he said. I think you can start it and leave, just don't stomp on the gas.

Yes I would agree with the above statement. You will warm up quicker while you drive slow as well as help eliminate fuel dilution to your oil.

a cam will increase your mileage substancially as will a proper tune. one of the first people to ever have a cam in a lancer was getting around 40 mpg without a tune even. i am currently getting 29.75 mpg driving like a crazy ******* constantly with 68000 miles. my car also only weighs 2200 lbs.

Wow. I guess you learn something new everyday. Are you sure it wont hurt your engine to take off without warming up? Even on those cold winter mornings?

During the winter I start it and turn the heater on then leave. I don't wanna drive to work freezing. I think your still suppose to take it easy even if you warm your car up. I think the tranny has to slowly warm up. Hot and cold don't mix very well.

What type of cam do you have and what other mods do you have to go with it?

As an aside, once I get all of my parts and install them I will keep track of the MPG for a few weeks and post the results. With the way gas prices are some of the mods may even pay for themselves with fuel savings.

i have the RPW stage one cam but it is not installed as of yet. that is the same cam the guy who was getting 40 mpg had also. i also have AEM CAi, ported intake manifold, phenolic spacers, RRM header, test pipe, magnaflow catback, as well as quite a few others.

I second the piggy statement.

Here's why:
I just made a trip that I drive several times a year, which usually requires a tank refill when I'm about 35-45 minutes from my home town. After installing the piggy, I made the same trip with extra spirited driving and more air conditioning than I normally use, yet I just pulled into the station down the street from my house instead of a truck stop. This plus performance gains...... why not?
