Question So I got my new Intake and Exaust installed... Car wouldnt start today.

This may be nothing, I got my new RRM Intake and Exaust installed installed yesterday and I've got to say they sound frickin sweet!! Anyway; I'm not much of a car person... kinda newbie when it comes right down to it. Today I went to get in my car and it started up fine, put it in drive and it just stalled out and would not start back up. Checked the intake and exaust and both looked fine; tried to start the car about 5 minutes later and it started up like nothing was wrong. Should I be worried about this? I figure I'll just monitor it for awhile and if it doesnt happen again I'll just not worry about it. Any ideas on why this happened? This happen to anyone else??

Maybe try unhooking the battery for 30-60 min to let the ECU reset for the MAS... I dunno, might be worth a shot. Anyone else?

yeah i'm thinking it is the mass air sensor as well. it is amazing what that little thing will do to your car.

i forgot to plug mine back in on a car a few years ago and it hopped around like it was a manual transmission driven by a 5 year old before it died in the middle of the street. make sure it is connected and tight.

As funny as that sounds, there isnt a chance its cuz of the RRM products.

I have a thread in one of the 08 forums, I started it up back when I bought the car. It was asking if anyone else was having problems with their car not starting at random times. You would be suprised how many people answered me. Many of us have had the problem where we go to start and it sits there, taking two or three tries to fire up. You might want to put the stock stuff back on, take it to the dealer and let them know its happened to a lot of us.

Well, I in no way though it was the RRM products of course but it happened directly after they were installed so you see my thought process. I'll try unhooking the battery for awhile like a previous poster said and just monitor it for ahwile. If it happens anymore I'll put back on the stock stuff and bring it back to the dealership. Thanks for the help guys!

Yeah mine has an intermitent long crank (i guess thats the technical term for it iirc) and the service tech said you "have to hold it longer" which is F'in BS cause i held it for a good few seconds and it wasnt starting. Is there anyone with a service rep that didnt give them a BS explaination?

Just know im going to a service manager about this crap and if i find out what is REALLY wrong, ill let you all know. could be another recall issue. My dad is a certified mechanic so hes sure as hell not accepting that as an answer lol.

Just note that you only need to disconnect your battery for 10 minutes, at most, to reset the ECU. Not 30-60. Figured I'd let you know, just in case you have a hot date waiting or something.

as for the MAS i had no problem with mine, did you have to unplug yours to get the intake in? i had no problems i guess b/c i didnt have to unplug mine to get the intake in. if thats the case then listen to otter and unhook the battery for about 10-15 min.

I also agree with DoHBoy I beleive this is that same nagging startup problem that no Dealer happends to recognise. Which always happends when you have some hot chick in the car and she is complimenting you on the car and it wont turn over... Only happend twice.

Well, I drove it quite a bit today and it never happened again. I unplugged the battery to reset the ECU too. Drove it around for a lil bit after that and it seems like I'm getting better fuel milage... don't know how that works but whatever lol. Anyway I'll just wait and see what happens; only time will tell.

I do 30-60 cause it gives me a good excuse to hang out in my garage away from the ol ball an chain Plus its a known fact that more beer can be consumed over a longer time period... But 10 min should be good enough if your goin out. Haha! Cheers!

I discovered that, when I put a cable tv in my garage, projects mysteriously doubled in time. Maybe you can put that knowledge to use.

When I first installed the intake it was loud, like really loud. But ever since I reset the ECU it seems like it's more quiet and smooth. I guess the timing had to be reset. *Shrugs*
