Bigger resonating chamber, more time for the exhaust gases to slow down and such.

Well I keep searching for Resonators and I'm getting listings like this one...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-UNI...29797742QQrdZ1

So, considering I have 2.5" versus 2.25"... Should I replace my Cat? or apply something like this along-with my Cat.?

Hmm.. should I just go the extra mile, and get a High Flow Cat. too
(I been usin' my stocker, since I lost some back pressure w/o it) ?

Anyone got an undercarriage shot, of their setup?

I saw that..
Im worried about the welds holding up, since it doesnt have a tip really, for connecting to the piping..

shouldnt worry about that. any reputable exhaust/welding shop will do just fine.

Do not get a test pipe! If you find the car too loud now you'll hate it with a test pipe, you'll also lose power and be a target for cops. Leave the stock cat alone and get a resonator (maybe 24", sound about right?), that should help a lot.

I have a custom 2.5" exhaust system on my car with a straight through muffler with a 4.5" tip. My exhaust was crazy loud when I first put it on. I had to rock the silencer to tone it down (which I wasn't too fond of). I then bought an 18" resonator and welded it in about a foot after the cat. It quieted my exhaust down a bit but not enough to where I could go without the silencer. I then got another 18" resonator and welded it in after the first one. My exhaust tone now is absolutely perfect. No silencer, not ricey and very deep toned. I couldn't be happier with the sound and I get compliments often. Resonators do wonders!

Hmm.. Can we hear this resonated-36in. note?

Also, how did the changes affect your back-pressure, along with the Cat?
Did you lose or gain Hp?

(Im using the original Cat. still btw..)

Are we talking about putting a resonator into the stock exhaust piping? Cityknight you just have a muffler on right? I'm looking to put a resonator into my stock exhaust pipe after my RRM axleback to quite that down. I bought a Greddy resonator from RRM. Can we weld in a larger diameter (2.25) resonator into the stock exhaust? haha I probably should have figured this out before I bought it a year ago

woops i see he said he has a 2.5 exhaust, but still, could we weld one on stock exhaust easily?

I'll see if I can record a clip of my exhaust and post it. When I went from my 2.25" Magnaflow catback to my 2.5" I lost alot of power down low. However, I gained a great deal of mid to top end pull. So from 3500 to redline my car pulls hard. Considering that the shift from 1st to 2nd puts the engine right around 3500/3600rpm, I'm never out of my powerband.
