New Spark Plugs?

I was wondering if anyone knows if there are spark plugs that are available for our car and if anyone has changed them yet. I know i used to use NGK Iridium IX on my eclipse and they worked great. would anyone recommend changing them or is there a reason not to change them? also does anyone know why the manual recommends different types for different mileage? any info would be appreciated. thanks in advance

Where does it say that in the manual? I don't recall reading that and I went through cover-to-cover. I'd like to go back and see what it says. Do you know the page number?

Personally, I do the maintenance as early as possible on most things. I wouldn't bother with plugs until you hit 15k miles. Most people do them at 30k or 60k miles, generally.

hey i guess i was part wrong. every 15 thousand in the Warranty and Maintenance Manual (starts at page 50) it says to change spark plugs with the standard type. then randomly in there is has platinum type and irridium type in there once i think. just seems weird that its in there randomly like that and not on every one. I personally thought that Irridium Plugs would be worth it for the very little investment. I would think a better spark equals a better running engine.

Yeah, but other than the advertisements, who actually says Iridium gets you a better spark?

OH MAN! Those things are 20,000 times more poweful than regular spark plugs!? I wouldn't install them, you fuel would become dynamite, and you lancer might take off like a rocket. I don't think your body or our lancers (although well built) would be able to hold up in Mach 3. Plus, you might get a speeding ticket unintentionally... IMO
