Well I talked to the guy at my exhaust shop about my cel and he said that it was probably because I have a faulty o2 sensor in the front since it is throwing the code from sensor 1 and not 2. I thought it was kinda funny that I should have thrown that right after I installed my header and it worked fine right before but he says I might have twisted the wires funny and killed it. What do you guys think? Should I replace it?

i've had 2.5" pipes on my car since i bought it and i have never had any issues with it.

i didn't seem to see where you installed the CEL eliminator--where'd you put it? is it in the header or is it where your 2nd O2 sensor is? it SHOULD be where the 2nd O2 sensor is. also try getting a package of spark plug non-foulers. drill one out to .5" and then leave the second one alone. screw them together with the bored out one being the second one in the chain. put your O2 sensor into this assembly and you should have no problems. plenty of evo guys do this and i've done it on my friend's WRX.

try the non-foulers before buying a new O2 sensor. i doubt that your wires were in that sad of shape. the catalyst recall is for the stock part and you'd be throwing a code with the stock header if there was a problem--you caused this code by removing the stock header.

a piggyback is a good investment. it comes with a good tune from RRM and you can have it tuned by a shop if you want to have the map changed. most shops should be able to tune the piggyback. i am going to get mine re-tuned when i can afford the $200 the local place charges.

Thats the thing. I have the rrm eliminator and yes I installed it correctly on the 2nd o2 sensor. The code however is coming from the first sensor that is in the header and is a o2 heating malfuntion. As you probably all very well know, our cars come with four wire o2 sensors that automatically heat themselves up. I really don't want to spend the money on an o2 sensor since this is suspension month and I almost have a complete suspension makeover (which I am very excited about) and that money will help me get my strut braces. I just want to know if anyone else has had this issue but it sounds like not really. I'm trying my hardest to avoid the 02 sensor buying. Hey, so the rrm piggyback is a good piggyback? But which is better? RRM says their version 1 can tune turbos but is it as advanced as the version 2?

i do believe the only difference between the v.1 and the v.2 is the vacuum line and a map... so really there's no difference--but the vacuum hook up is how you can tune it for a turbo.

sounds like you need a new O2 sensor.

$77 and $51 respectively... personally i'd just get the replacement... universal ones are too big of a PITA.
