I assume that lancerrally45's whip is turbo, so yes, on your application it would make a bigger difference than our little NA grandma motors.
yeah i have a custom 16g kit on my car. but im not about to mount it down there. first of all i dont want dust of anykind somehow getting through the filter and messing up the turbo, and another conern is water. i hurd that those water filters dont even work unless your completly submerged in water. haha, its not worth taking the chances of messing anything up.

The Dryflows main feature is just not having to oil it or anything when you clean it. Just soak it in the AEM soap and let it dry. I don't think it's anything related to not sucking up water. Wouldn't trust it anyway if it was. Yeah I don't blame you on the turbo CAI. Does it sit in the stock Evo spot? That seems to be a pretty good place to set it up and just get an evo snorkel or something.

So get the cheap SRI intake from ebay and stick a nice filter on it. got it lol. how much does an intake effect sound. i have stocker headers and exhaust on my car so nothing else would be effecting it. Also why does everyone here buy the really expensive one if its well known that the 20 dollar one works the same?

The way it looks and/or peace of mind. Although the Injen intakes of days past, the ones without the rubber mounting bushing, were known to break on a few occasions. I just got the MAS adapter and got a nice filter. Done.

It'll be a little throatier but won't make a lot of difference. I noticed my old CAI made my exhaust sound raspier for some reason.

When i had a Volant CAI on my other car (2.4L) If you got on it, the sound was very audible and and very loud inside and out, deep and throaty, i loved that intake, wished they made one for the Lancer :-( But when you accelerate under 3k RPM's you got nothing. I went and bought a K&N drop in and am happy with that.

lol only way to settle this is to throw her up on the dyno :P

taking bets, I think the CAI will win hands down in the total hp and (% over) * meaning along the RPM range, I think the gains will be ontop and higher then the Short ram.

For some examples check out
http://www.clubrsx.com/cr/SSPTIT.html

But as with any car, its impossible to tell what will yeild more with certainty. I remember seeing some scary freakish gains from an intake on a Mazda 6. crazy high gains.

why are people still arguing about this. it has been covered time and time again.

no matter what the situation, dyno, street driving, drag racing. on our car the CAI and SRI are the same
