Headers

I wish RRM or any other company made headers that don't make the CEL come on... Due to o2 sensors in the stock headers, removing them is also removing a cat, thus the CEL comes on..

Does anyone know a header that has a hole built for the o2 sensor to go in?? IF so please respond

there are CEL fixes for the CEL problem. Try ilpperformance.com. I installed one but am still having the light come on and am waiting for ilp's response. We should asked RRM to help us out and selling the CEL fix.

It's completely possible to have some sort of muffler shop weld in a bung for the sensor. Just have to look for the right sized fitting for it and a reliable shop.

the rpw header doesn't throw a CEL, or at least mine doesnt. had to spend $20 to get a o2 sensor bung welded on tho.

Ok, first off the RRM HAS a threaded hole for the 02 sensor. Now the reason why the CEL comes on is cause the 02 sensors detect a variation in exhaust temp, without the first cat, there's not enough variation in temp so the computer thinks something is wrong, thus the CEL comes on.

I have the same thing here. My RPW header isn't throwing a CEL in my car.

my friend told me that having the CEL on could cause other damages...is there any truth to that!! i mean, if that CEL is on but you know for sure its because off just the headers, can i still drive the car or what!

My RPW header doesn't throw a cell either. I too had to weld on the nut for the O2 sensor but that has since been rectified by RPW.

there could be no real damage for having the CEL coming on. what i mean by that is that the worst thing could happen is that the mixture might be a little rich and doesn't really affect much. it shouldn't even do that since the 2nd o2 sensor is what detects if the cat is still there as the 1st o2 sensor is what calculates fuel delivery. the light might just be annoying to see, but thats it. i'd get a MIL eliminator to get rid of the light just to have peace of mind.

as for the o2 bung on rpw headers, i'd say there's a chance that you might get one without a bung because rpw says that they don't have the first cat over there. it'll be a mistake, but it's still a probability. mine was supposed to have one, but it didn't.

MIL = malfunction indicator light : trivial

We didn't get one because it was the first set of Headers made for our Lancers and the company that made the header for RPW forgot to put them on. Everyone there after should have the O2 sensor.
