opinion on lancer mod

i have a oz o3 rally manual. i know how the lancer suxs N/A. I read coutless post regarding this. But here in PR the mirages move good, they are mirages that are in the 15's with the bolt on's w/o internal work but with a shave head and messing with the timing and fpr. I read a post from pr that a guy said putting the mirage 1.8 ECU, bc with the stock ecu we cant mess with the timing. ( i am trying to translate what he said) he also said someting bout the piston that the mirage one are better, that the lance guys should consider replacing them.U guys think by doing the ecu 1.8 swap the lancer will respond better? also shaving the head, that increases compression? is this a good mod for the lancer?

this is the link, but its in spanish.

higher compression is good for n/a applications. as far as the ecu swap. why. you can tune with evoscan and ecu flash, that way you can adjust the timing and fuel maps the way they need to go.
pistons are fine unless you want high boost. they will hold 8 psi just fine on a good tune. even 10 on a great tune. (mine like to spike at 10)

On the '02 - 05 Lancer you can tune the stock ECU with ECUFlash as mentioned above. Changing the head and ECU seems like overkill to me. Is the 1.8 in question a 4G6X engine or a 4G9X?

oh ok i c, the ecu flash wold seem like a better option, i was just trying to see if the lancer n/a could run as good as the mirages n/a here at the island.

its the 4g93
by the shaving the head, how much will the compression rise( i guess it all depends on how much u shave), but still aint sure? a pal of mine is gonna do it on his 4g93, but i havent read anyone who's done it here. is it worth it? idk much in that aspect

when you start shaving a head you have to think about a couple things. how much timing its going to retard your cam and how close the valve are going to be from hitting the pistons. i found on a website that a decking of .020" would retard a cam about 1-2 degrees. you could get an adjustable cam gear.
but as far as how much compression you would get. im not sure, ill check on it and get back with everyone

Also, the 4G93 is a direct injection motor.

The 4G93 is direct injection? That's weird since the 4G94 can use the same intake manifold, same head, and I think the same fuel rail.

Sorry, I read it incorrectly. Not all of them are direct injection.

Yeah the USDM mirages are all non-GDI.

Keep in mind, the mirages / technicas way way less than their Lancer cousins. When I weighed mine in at a weigh station a couple years ago, it was at 2440 lbs.
