WORKS Exhale Axle Back
^yea as much as i do love this exhaust, i feel im just paying for a brand name and not the product. like they said i can spend 50 bucks at a shop and bend some tubing, mount it all, then just get a nice chrome tip.
Ground shipping would run $16.79 and take about 4 business days to arrive in Dayton. I'm flying into Columbus this weekend and could bring one with me, but you'd probably spend more than that to drive over and pick it up with gas/time/snacks involved
Yeah, a custom job is possible. At the same time, you're paying Works for R&D work, well made piping, a nice muffler tip, etc. You'd be paying your local shop for an exhaust pieced together and welded part-by-part. It won't be as nice, it won't flow as well. And it won't be a known brand with a quality warranty.
OK. Just came off a bit harsh.
If you want to know the reasons, read my post. Hopefully Jamie or Bill can post up with more info, but that's everything I can think of.

yeah i understand.. sorry for comming off a bit strong.. but i just read a thread and this guy got it done from a muffler shop and doesnt sound too bad.. but like everyone says 80% of the cost is for the name of the product..

Well, aside from R&D and engineering there's the materials (straight stainless steel tubing, raw metal stock, hardware, gaskets, etc...). Add in the time to bend the tubing (let alone the cost of the mandrel bender); fabricating the flanges (again with tools/equipment); cutting, bending and finishing the hangers (with more equipment); rolling, polishing and engraving the tip (yet, more equipment needed). Then we have to place all the items in a jig that was custom-built specifically for this product (which involved even more time, resources and equipment) so that the finished product fits just as good as the original. Now we can weld together "just a pipe and a tip," but there's still packaging, instructions, etc...
Whew... let me know what shop can do all of the above for $100 (or even better $279-80%=$56) because I'd love for them to have our number
I'm sure something similar could be done for less (aluminized steel, press-bent bends, mediocre fitment, etc...), but WORKS is not about cutting corners and getting things "good enough." We're here to provide quality products for demanding enthusiasts. If you're one of those, you know where to find us We'll have to jump in my time machine and go forward 5 years or so to show you

If you're one of those, you know where to find us When it comes to price, anything and everything could be viewed as over priced, its what you think you are getting. If you go with a brand name well enough known, then at least you they will stand behind their work. When you get something custom, lol you get what you get and if their is a problem, well sure you can pay them again to fix it. Best thing to do is wait. See how others like the same products you mentioned.
Or if you can wait till Feb for the Dyno Summit then you may get your answer in terms of which may perform better based on what your looking for.
I rather go bolt on, vs. someones trial and error methods under my car.
