I know you said you "tested" the coils, but did you actually put on known good ones into your car and ran them? Coils seem to randomly go out on our Lancers.

So I finally fixed the car! There was something wrong with the coil apparently cause if I put it on cylinder 4 it would misfire there and if it was on cylinder 2 it would misfire there...so just swapped it out...and BAM

That has happened to me once dunno why, it just happened then never returned. I got piggy and my car never liked it, ran rich had glowing headers and popping exhaust. idk these engines are a lil sensitive. Only problem i have now is when i start it up and just sit there at idle and listen carefully i can hear what i call "little explosions" its look an extremely faint boom boom boom in rapid succession with vibrations to go with it. cel is intermittent. usually goes on after driving for a bit.....has me stumped no driveability issues just not running up to par i believe.....

p.s. not intending to hijack your thread..

Uh....that could be detonation which destroys your engine pretty quickly.

A lot of things, bad timing, too low octane fuel, heat, etc.

Ok, here we go, this will most likely fix your problem, "hopefully" Take some intake cleaner and take the IAC (idle air control) off. Turn it to where the hole to spay inside is up, soak it down to where it holds the cleaner inside and let it sit for a few min. After that shake it a lil' then dump it out, spay down inside it a few more time just to get all the loose carbon out. let it stand and dry for a few min. then reassemble it.

This is prob the reason it ran fine for a bit after you cleaned your throttle body. a litlle might have gotten in there and kinda cleaned it. "Make sure while cleanin the IAC you stick your finger in it and work the little plunger inside" Hope this helps ya man....Good Luck...

Ok next issue...Does anyone have any kind of electrical specs on sensors and how to check them? My dad seems to think that either the mass airflow sensor or the MAP sensor is going out. But since the only place you can get a manual is through mitsubishi, its kind of expensive, we havent gotten one yet.
