Question SRI's

As the title says, are sri's street legal? I'm just wondering 'cause my brother is saying something about C.A.R.B. number.

I'm sure a lot of people, if not everyone, has it installed, so, I'm assuming it is street legal. Also, Road//Race doesn't say anything on the website. I tried to run a search, didn't find anything, or maybe didn't do it right, but yeah, are they?

In CA and any states that adopt CARB standards, for a modification you have to display a CARB EO (exemption order) if you get pulled and not either get a ticket or see a judge about the part. A referee also inspects your car to see if a given part without an EO number affects emissions and can render a judgement on whether you get fined or not. Try PM'ing Guru Del about it as he is resident CARB lore master. Also, it was 3 minutes between your two posts so try to excercise at least a bit of patience.

Hell I will answer here.

RMR is rumored to be testing for CARB exemption.

RRM is testing for CARB exemption (I know I am doing it). It will be done here shortly and depending on the governement the EO # will be available to all.

Now if you purchase the part prior to CARB EO being given, you are still able to recieve the sticker aslong as nothing is modified on the kit.

Make sense? Any other questions feel free to post here or PM me.

LOL, ya, I didn't really think about that side of it. Will we need to have anything special to get the sticker if we bout the SRI before this?

If you bought it before the product got a CARB number, you should be able to contact the manufacturer and they will send you a sticker. I intend to contact RMR as soon as I hear that they finished their testing (which was supposed to be like 6 months ago, but something happened at the test place... or so I'm told)

Thanks for all the posts! Oh, and Pjal, sorry if I sounded impatient, I was actually more worried about my posting of this thread under engine tech rather than general since it really doesn't have anything directly related to engine, but eniweis, sorry.

hell, looks easy enough to make on in adobe and print it off... will be hard to tell the sticker is fake when you get it dirty/greasy/oily.

Cost of testing is extremely high, looking to see if it makes business sense and finding alternatives to testing.

Updates to follow.
