02 OZ engine swap

I was wondering if anyone knew if the

MITSUBISHI FTO 2.0i V6 24V MiVEC will fit in a 2002 oz lancer? and what type of mods would have to be done for it to work. Thanks

I have some buddies here that are currently installing a 4B11 into their 03 ES rally car, I think anything is possible lol.

But count on custom driveline parts I would guess.

My guess is that the cost of the swap would essentially make it a waste of time, you could just buy a faster car for cheaper. If you want speed in a lancer, you have to turbocharge it.

Yea evryone keeps sayin, insurance on a faster car sucks tho. And i dont want that monthly payment on a new car. I was also thinking about turboing my car with the turbo from turbo-kits.com for like 2800 but than i would want to rebuild the engine.

Honestly, if you have the time for it a G64 swap will be okay for the time being, it really isn't that expensive if you do the work yourself. No matter what you're going to need a new engine harness, but there is a full thread on it.

That depends on who you know. I know a couple guys selling 6A13TT's, one with the tranny shipped for $1600. Granted, that's not all there is cost-wise, but it'll get you quite a bit on your way. If it fits in a Mirage (though it's tight), I'm pretty sure it'll fit a Lancer. There'd be more potential out of a 4G63T, though that would also be a much more pricey road.
It would be much simpler/more rewarding to turbo and build your internals, however. Plus, you wouldn't have the added weight. It's all in what you want out of the car and how much you're willing to spend.

Building the internals and everything on the G94 is more or less pointless due to the material the engine is made. You'll get a nicely done "lancer boom" though.

What kind of boost are you talking about though? 20 PSI on built internals shouldn't pose a problem. Of course there will be a weak point eventually, no matter what, but honestly, I'm thinking head components would go next if not upgraded first. I've seen 4G93's make 300% of their original power so I'm pretty sure that a 4G94 could handle putting down more than double just fine, considering I've been doing it with no tuning or internals whatsoever. I don't even have a wideband yet to monitor. Hopefully that'll all change soon though.

To echo statements on here, if it fits in a Mirage, it will fit in a Lancer. Both the 6A12 MIVEC and the 6A13 TT will fit.

My cousin successfully swapped one (6A12) in his Colt (Mirage hatch) and though tight, it fits. Availability of spare parts stateside would be my biggest concern.

In the states you have to realize the WEAK material that the G94 engine is made of. Mirage is capable of making so much more with it's motor then the G94 is.

Speed is just a question of money, how fast do you want to go?
