Paddle shifters

Hi i was wondering if i use my paddle shifters to slow down on 2008 lancer gts will that be bad for my engine? can it wreck it? let me know thanks!

When you let off the gas and downshift to slow down, you are leaning out your air fuel mixture. This produces a lot of heat and does affect the life of the engine. But I don't think its something people should really worry about. You bought the car with paddle shifters to enjoy it.

ah ok, what part of the engine gets affected though? all of it or just a certain part?

Cyp yes slow down like engine braking (using the down shift on the paddle shifters)
