what are some pros and cons with CVT?

I have decided to get a 2009 Lancer GTS...there are two kinds which im sure everyones aware about, the CVT and M/T. But which one will be more efficient in the long run and in the aftermarkets?

MT is easier for modding

Having the MT gives you more options and ultimately more speed.

The CVT is weak, you cant launch and it doesnt respond well to mods. It also robs the car of more power to the wheels than a MT.

It's simple

If you hate traffic = go with CVT
If you like modding = go with 5speed

Practicality should factor into your decision. We're all different

CVT = more money to buy, more money to maintain, and more money to fix.
5sp = get the girls, more mods, faster

5sp also means women cant drive your car!

haha jk, my gf drives a stick but for some reason she's scared to drive my car...lol

CVT= what you buy if you want an A to B car, like increased fuel efficiency
Manual= what you buy if you like cars for things other than just transportation

^^^^ this

however, the fuel efficiency argument isn't very strong, IMO. You gain about 1MPG in city driving. Which isn't that great of an incentive to me.

Then again, I'm a little bias towards manual transmissions ... Every car I've ever purchased with my own money had a MT.

Personally, the only valid argument for getting an AT/CVT is you don't like or don't want to drive a MT in daily traffic.
