Cams.

I saw an OBX cam gear for our cars for like $85 online. Has anyone done this? performance? worthwhile? or?

Not if you don't have any other things to go with it. ie cam shafts, maybe safc to tune it.

You could always just pick up a mirage cam... It's like a stage 1 cam for our car...
Do you plan to boost? Tune?

I would love to boost but probably not due to money. And i wont be tuning either. I would just like to pick up a few hp and maybe a slight increase in acceleration.

What car does the cam have to come out of exactly? I know it needs to be a 99+, but also I have heard it needs to be from a manual and an LS model? that true or what? Thanks

I looked up online and on alldata pro. and it say's nothing about a different cam for manual or auto. I got a auto cam out of a 00 or 01 mirage 1.8L and i am going to check lift/duration on it to make sure but im about 90% sure it does not matter if it's auto or manual.

4g94 2.0L
Intake open 2 deg BTDC
Intake close 58 deg ABDC
Exhaust open 58 deg BBDC
Exhaust close 10 deg ATDC

4g93 1.8L
Intake open 6 deg BTDC
Intake closes 54 deg ABDC
Exhaust opens 54 deg BBDC
Exhaust closes 6 deg ATDC

For you slow people:
BTDC - before top dead center
ABDC - after bottom dead center
BBDC - before bottom dead center
ATDC - after top dead center

So from what I just showed, the 4g93 intake opens 4 deg before the 4g94. But then again it closes 4 deg before the 4g94.
Same for the exhaust side. I'm sure you will not see a significant difference in changing the camshaft.

The camshaft from the 4g93 1.8L from 98-02 are all the same. It doesn't matter if it is manual or not.

How much of a difference would think it would make with a boosted motor though?
