I wouldn't base your purchase on Injen's own dyno. It could be right but 13 HP is a pretty big gain for just an intake. Moreover it may be something of an illusion, the intake could simply be leaning out the mixture thus the results are due to more air and the leaning effect.

yea from the thread on 9gL, the guy who had them prototype the intake on his car said the guy from injen was sayin how the 2.4l runs really rich on fuel, so im guessin they did do sumtin about that...but is that a reason to shy away form buying the product? i rather get this than 400$ sumtin for a retune (flash)

13 hp and only 5 ft/lb tq? THat is not impressive or sound right. I had a 2004 Lancer with the same 2.4 Mivec, a Injen CAI and maybe got 5 and 5 out of the whole thing. Actually due to the dangers of rain, went to the RRM SRI, and had better launching power. The CAI on the 2.4 seems to be more for top end power, like when you are on the free way trying to pass someone. I would just be leary, that is all.

Not necessarily but for all intensive purposes, an intake is an intake. It might actually be worth paying less for an intake and getting a tune rather than spend more money on what is basically just a tube anyways.

im kind of confused about the tuning..any legit shop can do it? do they have to crack the ecu or nething like that, or is it jus plug n play for them if they have the correct program to do it.

Depends on how they tune the car. If they use a piggyback, they don't actually interact with the ECU, if they ECUflash, they need to have cracked it.

well i wouldnt say the SRI helps launching power it dosent really kick in until after 3-3.5k, the CAI does give you more top end. but kicks in earlier than the SRI
