i am a new memeber and a new owner of a 2009 Lancer GTS i love the car but i want a little more power. does anyone know if theres a cheap upgrade for it to give it a little more juice? I found some performance chips online but im not too sure the ad's look a little weird 50hp 50tq for 80 bucks??? idkkk someone please point me in the right direction

you should search around a bit more before making a post like that.

You can buy an Ebay chip but no one here has every seen it make any gain of power. Intake and Exhaust bolt ons are your most reliable choices.

Alternatively, if you have a CVT transmission I personally recommend something called sprintbooster which (if you can get by the name) works wonders improving throttle response. It has nothing to do with the ECU in terms of HP or TQ.. but has everything to do with interactin with your Throttle controller and giving your car a good kick in the pants when it comes to driving in D mode.

That said... there is a wide range of products out there.

 

is there any kind of intake thats good for this car a specific brand or anything. i dont want a cold air tho to much money between that and the tuner

 

? You don't need to tune a CAI anymore than a SRI. If you can run a CAI, do it.

A CAI is a CAI, buy whichever one you want.

 

so i dont need a tuner for it? ik on my mustang i needed a tuner cuz the check engine light kept comming on

 

You shouldn't if it's a well designed intake.

 

Don't expect much gains power wise from the CAI; mostly going to be more noise. Also stay away from Fujita air intakes. Been alot of problems with the MAF sensor tripping check engine lights. Poor product! Stick to K&N or something like that

 

new member here also but I have been doing my homework. If going sri go injen if cai then go ame. I have a SE as the papers say but Im sure its the ES. haven't done anything to it yet but I have plans for it. anyway to my point... as most people on here are saying do your homework... and the end result will suit.

 

Injen SRI? Injen CAI > AEM CAI (requires splicing to work) And as far as what SRI I would reccomend None!

New wheels, Drop (Coils), CAI, and Exhaust. You're set for a while!!!

But if you want some power, get a CAI (Cold Air Intake), Exhaust, and maybe Go TURBOCHARGE!?!?Haahaha! {:

 

on the 09 gts 2.4l you do get more gains with a cai than on the 2.0l with a cai. i know this because i have ran both engines with cai from injen (my brother has an 08 es 2.0 and i have a 2.4l 09). The 2.4l CAI by injen is designed different and better utilizes injens technologies. if you look in the inside of a 2.4l vs a 2.0 y ou notice the 2.4l has a pipe that allows air to get to the engine but not get metered by the MAF, this leans the engine out slightly and provides more gains, this isnt seen in any other intake for the 08-09 lancers. also injen didnt just pick any diameter size pipe to go inside the intake, they tried different sizes until a certain diameter gave them the AF ratio they were seeking.


i would avoid getting an sri, it did nothing for my 2.4l engine. i know theres some companies out there that claim their sri was designed for the 2.4l engine but so far the ONLY company i know for sure who has designed an intake SPECIFICALLY for the 2.4l is INJEN.
