This, you get the same power anyways.

Reading is fundamental.
If I wanted a short ram I'd get one and wouldn't have made this thread.

And its not the same.

Yes, it is the same. You're not going to gain a significant (ie. enough to feel) amount of power regardless of what kind of intake you get.

‎Cai pulls air from outside of the engine bay which gives you a colder denser charge hence the better gas mileage an better response .... Ram air pulls hot air from the engine bay but at a higher vol..but being that its pulling air from the engine bay..it does squat for performance.
That's the difference.

The performance is the same, what you've spouted is pure theory. Moreover, a CAI has reduced response because of the longer piping, in theory. Save yourself the money and the hassle and just buy a SRI.

I've seen it done. Actually, sawulkn had a cai on his OZ before he did he manual conversion. I've seen others take out the fan on that side and put in a push fan.

What I meant was it really doesn't make a difference unless you want to burn extra money and get nothing out of it.

You do realize that pretty much everyone that is going to respond to you on this has had experience (not to mention actual knowledge) with it and will try to help you out right? You seriously won't see a noticeable difference with the 4g94 motor. Maybe 2hp, and Amby is right about the response being longer b/c the piping is longer. It's not like there's a turbo back there pushing the air into the motor.

It doesnt sound like you guys are going to convince him that the cai will not be any more beneficial than a short ram, but maybe he just wants a cai because of how it looks or cause no one else has one or for whatever reason. Even though it wont be anymore beneficial if this is what he wants I stick with my pvc method I think it would look neat and he could make it however he wanted to.

I've had a SRI on my car for a week or two and and when sitting in traffic for a while and then going my car just felt sluggish. I switched to a CAI and dont have that problem anymore.

You have an Evo, it makes sense given the sheer amount of heat given off by the turbo. For an NA Lancer, the difference is insignificant.

I should have pointed out it was not my Evo, it was my Nissan.

A 3.5 L Altima? Completely different engine. I had a crap load of mods on my Lancer and gained very little power, at least relative to the money invested. For the 4G94, if you're staying NA, the difference between a CAI and SRI is negligible.
