srt4 internals in a 2009 lancer gts

hello all, i was just wondering if i could get more info on srt 4 piston and rods. i have seen in at least two threads on here someone saying that the srt 4 pistons and rods are compatible with the 4b12.

my question is, are there any modifications needed for this or can u just get the srt pistons and rods and include them in a regular rebuild with new bearings gasket set...ect

i am planning on going turbo next year and when i do so i would like to rebuild the engine stronger for peace of mind.

i only plan on running 12-13 psi of boost.

any info would make my day

thanks Brock

That SRT-4 is a monster. A total sleeper. People pull up to a light with my buddies, and laugh at his stripped neon; light turns green and by the next light they are asking, " you got a HEMI in that!?"

The Neon SRT-4 does not have the same bore / stroke (b = 87.5, s = 101mm). The only srt-4 package that would fit would be from the caliber.

And since, as stated by ShadowES, both the 4B12 and the SRT-4 engine are made from the same block (GEMA), I don't think you'd need any special parts or work to get the SRT-4's rods and pistons in.

if no one can tell your buddy's car has a rough lope and sounds mean why race it, ther are just some things you dont go after......

but either way. the best way to find out is to do some research on the SRT4 engine bore stroke and find out what the mitsu bore and stroke is. you never know they may be closer then you think.

NEON SRT4

• Turbo compressor
• 2,429 cc 2.4 liters in-line 4 front engine with 87.5 mm bore, 101 mm stroke, 8.1 compression ratio, double overhead cam and four valves per cylinder EDV
• Premium unleaded fuel 91
• Fuel economy EPA highway (mpg): 30 and EPA city (mpg): 22
• Multi-point injection fuel system
• 12.5 gallon main premium unleaded fuel tank
• Power: 160 kW , 215 HP SAE @ 5,400 rpm; 245 ft lb , 332 Nm @ 2,000 rpm

if you did get the pistons to work without a turbo you would lose power from the lower compression.
