2003 lancer es timing belt

I recently hit 100k miles, and I am not going to go pay 700 dollars for a timing belt/water pump change. I've been looking around online for timing belt kits, and I dont know which one is worth buying. Can anyone tell me what kind of kits they bought when they changed their timing belts/water pumps? Thank you.

+1^^ All you will need is timing belt, water pump, and maybe the water pump gasket if its not included with your pump. Also the knowledge, make sure you know what your doing. Its a straight forward and easy job but you will be crying if your off on your marks when you fire it up.

If your just changing the belt for maintenence and nothing else (abnormal noise etc.) pulleys or tensioners will not need changed just the belt and water pump

I do have to admit the particular store I go to they hired some bright ones the last six months . They used to have knowledgeable people in there but now there so bad I am about to switch companies. The only thing keeping me there is 95% of the time they are cheaper for the same part than the other part stores I have access to. If it keeps up though I will not tolerate it even if it means paying more for the same thing

there is no reason to do a timing belt in your car , a motor can be had for real cheap out of a importer or a junk yard... Ride it till it dies... My timing belt stipped teeth at 110k and I just swapped the motor out for one out of an 06 with 10k miles on it...

LOL>... not the ideal way to do it.. but yes he is correct.. LOL all my motors have cost me under 300$.. and ive swapped them all myself.

ride it till it dies!

but nah seriously.. just get a timeing belt kit from your local parts dealer, if u dont know what your doing seriously, dont attempt it. I didnt know how to do a timing belt untill on a few weeks ago and ive swapped my motor 3 times this year! and some of it is still voodoo to me. getting all the parts off is a hassel inside the car. lol.. mine actually cost me 550 at the dealer to have changed. and i did it at 60k miles on the dot.
