speaking of the tranny if you dont want to tear the tranny's apart you have the option of spending 500-800 on some custom cut axles (which will be lancer length with eclipse tranny side hub on it) or you can spend 500-800 on a tranny shop doing the differential swap for you , your choice. I have never been inside of a transmission before my swap and mine has held together fine I have somewhere in the nature of 40-50k miles on my swap so far .

also keep in mind since its a 4g6 engine you can then bolt on the evo 8/9 dohc head, intake, turbo manifold etc. the 2.4 is a pretty popular swap amongst the evo guys at least in my area, all it takes is some custom pistons and blockin off 5 oil drainback holes in the block,..there is a huge huge following for that engine,

Say you didnt want to go dohc and you wanted to keep it sohc for now, guess what the evo turbo exhaust manifold is a bolt on as well as the intake to 4g64 sohc head as well....

I have done the 1st option with the evo head and its sitting on my engine stand right now, the head with turbo clears fine in the engine bay...If you get hung up anywhere Im sure me or darkmitsu can help you in a lil more detail...

Yea I'm not too worried about the tranny. I already got it taken apart and i painted the eclipse transmission case yellow to match my car. I am looking for some axle seals right now since the ones on the eclipse differential dont look so good. but from what i understand the clutch kit comes with the front transmission seal. My plan is to be laying rubber by the end of the month. LOL I am taking my time with this.
