Thumbs down Way to Loud!!!

Hey all I have posted on this subject before and didnt get any real answeres so I'm trying again. I am running the rrm header the rrm test pipe and an obx muffler. The car is just way to loud, durring a 4 hour drive the other day it was so loud our ears were hurting when we got home. I'm not sure if its the test pipe with the header or the muffler cause so much noise or maybe even a blown gasket. Any input would be appritieated. I have thought about putting the stock cat back on but dont want to it did add a little kick jsut not sure if it was worth the noise. Thanks
Ryan

Word. Try running a 2.5" turbo back with a high flow (or worse a test pipe). You either get used to it, suck it up and deal with it, or change it. You'll just have to decide what's more important to you.

Yeah i know he would be. Do you think it could be a gasket problem.

I'm guessing: not really. I have a stock exhaust manifold (but I would like some headers),test pipe and Magnaflow and its loud (when I get on it), but fairly quiet (low rumble) at low rpms.

i have heard a car with the header test pipe and exhaust and for **** sake it is loud.

It is one of those trade offs you make for straight pipes.

You get smell and sound.

Either deal with it or toss back in the stock cat.

The headers are loud from what i have heard but it is all amplified by each peice.

Me personally i am running stock header, cat and exhaust, plus an rrm turbo.

The turbo acts as a muffler though. If you ran a wide, open exhaust (not to be confused with Magnaflow's "Wide Open" then you'd make more noise without a turbo than with. The header I guarantee is why you're so loud, and the test pipe and the rest of your exhaust just make it maintain its volume...as opposed to smaller piping and a cat which muffles sound as well.

Does anyone think if changing to a different muffler might make a difference I know the obx are made loud from the start. Or is the header the final answer to why its so loud. No matter what its staying that way.

Is it loud from a possible exhaust leak?? My car has a fat exhaust leak right now, and i've been too busy to take it in and have everything welded...when all my leaks were once fixed when i took it in, it sounded deep and great (kamikaze header, test pipe, custom catback, and RRM axle back), but now it sounds like **** anytime i go above 3000 RPM's and it's really ricey sounding right now..
So if it's loud from a possible leak you might wanna have it checked out

Oh and by the way the header and test pipe is makin it super loud....if you put the cat back on it will be sooo much quieter and deeper...but then again you'll lose top end, so that's why i haven't kept my cat on

well just try a diff muffler unless money isn't a problem, get one with a silencer or something......i think a muffler with a silencer shoved up it looks like ***...and since 9 outta 10 ppl see my rear view more than anything else...i wouldnt ever get one...but im sure a diff muffler and a possible silencer would quiet it down a bit...but yeah headers and test pipe add lots of sound....but add decent performance to go with it....so its ur call in the end.

I've heard that the Greddy Evo exhaust is supposed to be pretty quiet but still quite powerful. But you hear that a lot when reading ads. You could also try that if you decide to upgrade.

this may help you a lot... go to an exhaust shop and have em put a straight through resonator, like a glass pack, after your stock resonator. ive heard they help reduce noise quite a bit in this kind of situation.

it also may have something to do with your muffler. im running a vibrant axle back exhaust and it is so smooth and deep. and my kamikaze header and downpipe barely made it louder, not sure whats gonna happen when i throw a test pipe on there though
