I am curious on how to replace the cable too, but yes. When I stick my toe under the gas pedal and lift up, it drops the RPMS back down to between 500-1,000. Much better than the 2K-4K!! Good luck. If my experience helps others save money fixing it, then I will feel better with the money I spent.

 

Disconnect the cable at both ends along with all the brackets and pull it through the firewall. Pull the new one through and make sure the grommet on the firewall seals properly. It's a pain to do but not overly complicated.
