4B11 into 4B12

Ok ive got a 4B11 and since the 4B12 isnt available as a lancer engine here ive decided to covert my own. Has anyone done it? All that I rate I need is the pistons? From what I can gather the cams, crank and valves are all the same or not?
Please help.

there are slight differences in the 4b12 vs. 4b11, your better be is to pay a little bit more and build a Turbo upgrade. Keep it light on the boost, but even 200 hp is damn good and will feel way better than the 4b12.

Mitsubishi Made the 4b12 a little weak, its true potential if the internals were optimized, closer to 180 190, but they didnt want to take away from the Ralliart.

I was gonna go turbo, but decided to stick NA for various reasons.
1 is im using my lancer for racing purposes and im not allowed to add forced induction for my class.
2 is I am allowed to increase engine size by boring and stroking as long as its the same block. And
3 is NA engine sounds much better to me Considering all the weight stripping I did, I dont need that much power.

4b12 in my understanding will be a totally different engine than the 4b11. You have a bigger block, different head, pistons, crank, cam, the whole works will be different. It is .4 L more displacement. Not to mention the ECU's...

You would need a whole engine swap, and if you are running a CVT you will need to program the CVT ECU for the 4b12.

From my research this is what I found. The actual cylinders have a larger diameter, the pistons have a larger stroke, there is a slightly different crankshaft and different cams. Also the intake and exhaust chambers are slightly bigger. Otherwise everything else is the same. So technically, the 4B12 is a stroked and bored 4B11 if u want to think of it as such.

You have to be careful boring out the 4b11 as it has pressed in steel sleeves into the aluminum block. You bore it out too much and you will have a greater chance of warping the steel sleeve..

OK i just checked specs. The 4b12 is an 88 mm bore while the 4b11 is an 86 mm bore, so you could bore it out. but the stroke is 11 mm longer.

To do this is a lot of work, you will be changing crank, connecting rods, pistons, cams, timing chain (possibly), head, EECU..... not to mention programming if you have the CVT. lots of $$$!!!

you might as well buy a 4b12 out of mitsubishi or a wrecker if you can find one....

There is no point of doing so. The money and time you spent on converting the engine will be more than a turbo kit. Save your money.

Get a Ralliart/ Evo X and tuned.
or those Genesis looks pretty good
