I can say for sure the 4G94 can easily handle 10 psi I have been running this for some time now with me tuning it. As soon as I get a dyno number I am going to up the boost more to push it right to the limits of the stock internals while I am waiting and deciding what I wanna do next

well if you noticed i said "WAS" running at 11psi.. i cracked my turbo manifold and have been waiting on getting a custom manifold made. i was only boosting for about 2 months before that happened... but im positive i got lots of life left on those internals at 11psi..

I fell that...I first bought my lancer when in school in 03. Waiting to turbo has been so freakin difficult....Got a job, saved some money, finally in 2010 I've got all the parts i need and am almost ready to install. Dead broke now ofcourse since i spent about 2000 on all the parts.

So what all has to be done for that swap and how much would I be looking at spending or would it be better to just buy another 4g94 and build that

Not to be a dick but a quick search would get you all the info you want on doing a 4g63 swap into your lancer, I contemplated it on the wifes Lancer but it is replaced and sitting waiting for someone to buy it.

School first then good paying job then do whatever the hell you want. It's been 12 years and now I'm swapping out my busted head and plan on having some "fun" with my econobox.

Swapping out the 4G9x to a '63? Just buy the car it came with. Less problems in my opinion.

Getting a 4G63 into an OZ/ES/LS Lancer (4G94) is not easy. It's also basically retarded unless you literally find an abandoned EVO 8/9 laying in a ditch somewhere at which point you'd still be better off just fixing that. It's a complete overhaul; we're talking all new accessories, new mounts (some custom work needed here too), new transmission (highly advised), new axles, new suspension subframe, new engine harness and ECU etc etc etc. None of the old motor components can be used, you're virtually stripping the car to a shell then fabricating custom components to get the 4G63 in.

What is much easier, which I actually did... is the 4G69 swap. If you're serious about wanting to turn your little Lancer into a fun project car, the 4G69 is feasible and all things considered a relatively easy swap. Even without bolt-on upgrades, just replacing the 4G94 with the 4G69 yields about a 45hp gain and more than 45 lb/ft of torque.

Once you have the 4G69 in there, you can turbo that to easily over 220hp on stock internals. About 7 to 10psi is safe on a small 16G turbo. Want to be even more ambitious? Throw on the 4G63 head (which fits the 4G69) and you have yourself a 2.4L Evo... but this is no cake walk and requires some money and patience.

Hope this helps.

You make it sound like you are surprised that a stock econobox motor can't handle boost or nitrous....

If you wanted a performance motor, why didn't you buy anything in the mitsu line with a 4g63?

Now you can do what what is said above and have a nice setup, truely not sure of what the cost would be for something like that. Swapping motors in mitsu's isn't like swapping motors in the honda's.

what are you going to use the car for?
all of what you said is true, but heres a couple things you didn't think about. 1. do you actually know how much time and money it takes to do a 4g63 swap to a lancer, and 2. in some countries such as Canada it is very difficult to get a car with a swapped motor on the road.

The 4g63 would be decently expensive. If you're trying to convert the car to awd. Very difficult and a lot of money. Keeping it fwd wouldn't be that difficult of a job, but the motors aren't that easy to find and they are expensive. That's why the 4g64 is the better choice for a motor swap. Can find them easily, and they are cheap.

But the 4g94 does do decent with boost. I been running over 12-15 psi on the stock motor for 3yrs and 20k miles. Other than blow by, it still seems to run pretty good.
