Randomly poor mileage

I'm not sure if I'm just paying way too much attention but it seems that my mileage has been somewhat poor as of late. This is mostly city driving, but even still. I live in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah and I'm only getting an average of 27 mpg. Much better than my old vehicle, but even still...

I'm not sure if its because of the cold, or a coincidence of new tires breaking in, but it just seems lower than what I used to get.

Completely full to low fuel light only took about 278 miles, where back at Halloween, I would be at 330 right on the last mark BEFORE the light came on. Any idea on what's going on? I keep the oil properly maintained, the tires properly pressured, I don't carry excess weight and I've been good about not trying to abuse the accelerator. This is hella depressing. Half tank I could get away with almost 230 miles but I'll be damned if I can get away with 180. Who votes that it may just be the cold? Because that's my vote.

Weather can impact mileage so can an infinite number of other variables too. However 27 city is pretty good. Have you looked at the epa rating of our cars? Your about on par bro.

I tracked my mpg using the trip meter and exact gallons pumped and the best mileage I ever had was 29mpg mixed city/hwy. While driving with a bad cat, I was still getting 26. Now I'm getting the same 27-ish as you.
27 is not poor mileage for these cars at all. It's about right.

As far as why it can vary a little, there's a poop ton of things that can affect it. Emissions, tires, load, etc.
Isn't there a "winter" formula for gasoline where they use a higher % of ethanol? How might that affect things?

The MAF is probably dirty, but I have no idea on how to clean it. Also I guess I'm just used to 34. :P
