Hello everyone, Japanese owner of RVR(Japanese badge for Outlander Sport)writing from Japan. Anyone know if there is an ecu upgrade chip for the 4B10 engine available? Wish I had the 4B11 like you guys! Just did the basic upgrade with free flow air filter strut bar and throttle controller. The rest is all cosmetic, options lights etc. I want to post a picture of my car but I dont know how to upload a picture file here, there is only insert image by link. Can somebody tell me how? Thank you

Welcome to the forums, Keifu!
If I'm correct in saying that the entire 4B platform uses similar electronics... Then what you'll want to do is get a Tactrix 2.0 cable, and ECUflash software. Our platform uses the OpenPort 2.0 software, and can easily (im assuming easily) be flashed and modified. Here's another thread where this is discussed.

cai issues

Hey everyone. First post here and I am new to doing any mods. I recently purchased a 2012 outlander sport se and have been reading a lot about installing a Cai. Two nights ago i put one in and am having a few issues.
1) I don't think I have the best location for the filter. I placed it next to the battery bc I didn't see any other areas where it would fit. Any suggestions on placement so its more of a Cai and not a Sri?
2) with the Cai on it would feel like i was going to stall on each initial acceleration. Once i was going it was fine. I think i didnt have the mass air flow sensor clamped properly but does that make sense?
3) my mph for some reason before the switch seemed to be stuck on 24mpg (had it up to 32 at one point after I bought it) after I out the cai on even with the poor performance it was around 27 but after i put the stock ba k on (while I figure out why the acceleration is so bad) my mph won't go above 18.

I know thats a lot and it might be confusing but any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Not sure what to do

Thanks

First off, come stop by the Outlander Sport section: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/outlander-sport-335/

Second, what CAI did you get? The only one I have been able to locate ANYWHERE is the Colt Speed one and that is well over $1K!!! Second, if it is just an AutoZone/Pepboys kit you will probably be best just returning it/throwing it out and buying a high-flow drop in filter like this one:
Amazon Amazon
Myself and a few others here have seen noticable (butt-dyno & legit dyno by HiBoost) gains with them. My MPGs are above 30 MIXED with the K&N! The engine sounds better, breathers better, accelerates better, and is more efficient. The filter + some 4inch intake tubing between the MAF and the stock airboost gave HiBoost even better results. When I looked into the Short Ram Intake, I found that many lancer owners buy it initially, but end up upgrading because they are dissapointed by the loud noise and smaller gains compared to the expensive intakes. It has been suggested and I find it hard to disagree that the SRM style ones sit awfully close to the exhaust and all of that heat being sucked in is not going to help anything. Others have had issues with "Do-It-Yourself" intakes sucking up water in the rain and causing huge problems.

If you are dead set on keeping that intake, you should install it propperly, then start the car and let it idle for 10-15 minutes without driving/revving it and let the ECU "learn" the new airflow and compensate for it. Once it figures out the new, correct fuel to air ratios, take it for a drive, and drive it gently, and try to keep the throttle consistant so the ECU can again, learn all of the new air amounts.

If you have any other questions head over to the Outie Sport forum.

Also, don't trust the dashboard MPG readings. Especially once you start changing the intake system. Calculate your miles driven / gallons used at each fill up to get accurate results. Or, get an app for your phone like Fuelly, iDrive, or any of the other ones in the Market/iTunes

Awesome. Im returning all the parts tomorrow and going with the drop in.
I also removed the black plastic piece that is infront of the stock intake. Seemed like it sealed it off almost completely when you closed the hood. I reset it and let it idle and its driving great! Even has a little more power and is a little louder with that plastic wall gone and still the stock filter.
I'll let you knows my mpg later this week and if I can get a drop in but thanks for all the help!!

Well I haven't been back because I don't own the car anymore. Flipped it head over heels then barrel rolled the car, not sure how many complete flips I did from within inside the car.

I never even got scratched. All the air bags went off around the ceiling and I was wearing my seatbelt, so it didn't detect enough forward impact to deploy the steering wheel bag, which is good; I didn't need it obviously so, I didn't get whacked it the face by it for nothing. It felt like I crashed a rally car in a roll cage with a harness on. I mean I jumped a dirt mound going about 50mph, came down crooked on the nose, which sent it into an off-camber flip, then it barrel rolled flipping from side to side. When it stopped, the engine was still running, and the cart was on the driver door. Do I had to do a push-up out of the passenger side door then jump down off the car. Everyone thought I was dead. I can confirm this vehicle will probably save your life when some other vehicles may have killed me in such a crash.

Well hate to say it. But I won't buy another of these. I would have turned around that day and bought another, but after driving it, the CVT made me mad at it. I can say, "I hate CVTs".
If they had an outlander sport with a v6, 250HP stock, manual trans... Well then I mine as well buy the EVO. But now that the cars gone I can say, for the off road and on road abilities of the car, it is far under-powered. Getting on the highway entrance, every car on the road could hold me behind them if they wanted, because I felt like the gas pedal did very little! I went for a sport SUV domestic with a bigger v6 engine and more passing power. I no long drive across country, so I went for less fuel mileage, but more ability for personal trips and off roading. Great looks and safety while it lasted!
